The New Zealand Veterinary Journal is a high-quality peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing original research findings, clinical observations, rapid communications, correspondence and review articles covering all aspects of veterinary science, animal welfare, and animal health aspects of animal science. The Journal specialises in articles related to grazing cattle, sheep and deer and performance horses, or that are of particular relevance to the New Zealand veterinary profession, but submissions from all disciplines are welcomed. The Journal is available in printed copy, and the complete archive (56 years of peer-reviewed veterinary science) is available ONLINE in a fully indexed and searchable format via two portals: www.sciquest.org.nz and www.ingentaconnect.com. The Journal publishes general scientific articles, reviews, state-of-the-art commentaries, rapid communications, clinical communications, short communications, and correspondence. We aim for acceptance to publication times of approximately 6 months. All scientific papers submitted for publication are independently refereed, regardless of source, and the opinions of contributors are their own and not necessarily those of the publisher or editor. The New Zealand Veterinary Journal is published bimonthly by the New Zealand Veterinary Association.
